2.The difference between three-, four-, and five-axis machining of CNC milling
Triaxial -
This is one of the most widely used techniques for machining parts. A standard CNC milling machine has three axes, and the cutting tool moves along the X, Y, and Z axes to mill the part.
Triaxial machining can be used for a variety of tasks such as drilling, contouring and grooving. This kind of milling machine is relatively simple, generally refers to three axes of linear motion in different directions, such as up and down, front and back, left and right. The three axes can only machine one face at a time, and the most efficient machining surface is only the top surface of the workpiece.
Four-axis - We use this milling machine to manufacture more complex parts. It incorporates an additional motion trajectory through rotation in the vertical axis, allowing greater flexibility and introducing more continuous machining.
Four-axis milling involves the same process as three-axis machining, however, milling is performed on an additional axis. Four-axis CNC machines operate on the X, Y, and Z axes and also include rotation around the X-axis, which is known as the A-axis.
Five-axis - These machines are the most advanced and widely used type of CNC milling machine. The five-axis milling machine combines three conventional axes with two additional degrees of kinematics. It is operated by increasing the rotation of the table and spindle.
